Married for more than 25 years to Dr. Peter de Ipolyi, a prominent oncological surgeon, Marit's association with the Houston medical community began many years ago during her early career as a pediatric cardiology nurse with Texas Children's Hospital.

Marit has been involved in community volunteer work for many years with the Stehlin Foundation for Cancer Research, as well as the Susan G. Komen Foundation's "Race for the Cure" and the Houston End Hunger Network.
